Keep those around you…

The ones who have suffered…the ones who have cried…the ones who have reached the point of withering and have salvaged their might…

 Keep those around you…

Who have tried and failed and been unafraid to try again. Who have fallen and fallen but smiled each time. The ones that have ensured that pain is a point…the point at which power is gained.

Keep those around you…

Who see you through your practiced smile and your faded pretense, who understand your unspoken, and attempt to go through your surface and view the real you: your soul within.

 Keep those around you…

Who recognize the distinction between knowledge and wisdom, material and spiritual, painful growth and comfortable stagnation…

Who know the layers of right and wrong and try and see the world in objective grey. The ones that understand the ambiguous boundaries between healthy attachment and over dependence, love and obsession, self-care and self-absorption…

These are the people who will be there for you at the time of the inevitable and incomprehensible confrontation with reality…the hours when we stop and think and feel and cry in the pain of the shattering of our ideals. They will be there, understanding, relating, supporting and connecting with what you really need. They will be there to help you achieve your balance, to act as your mirror and help you find yourself when too many identities impose themselves upon you. They will be there as people to find solace with and know that you are truly not alone… that for every you there is also a me!

Those rare few are perhaps what is left as the last shred of hope for humanity.
